In October 2022 INQAAHE bid for a UNESCO call to collect national use cases of Micro-credentials in the Asia-Pacific region. INQAAHE’s proposal won the bid and under the auspices of UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education (UNESCO Bangkok) and the Section for Educational Innovation and Skills Development (EISD), with the support from the Japanese Funds-In-Trust (JFIT), launched the project on November 11, 2022.

Currently the INQAAHE team is conducting thorough desk review of academic and grey literature, expert interviews and focus groups with the authors of shortlisted countries in Asia-Pacific (Japan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Mongolia, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, and Indonesia).

By the end of November, the team is expected to submit a progress report and drafts for the use cases of micro-credentials of the beforementioned countries based on the research framework.

The project is planned to end on December 15, 2022.

The results of the project will shape policy recommendations for micro credentials in Asia-Pacific.
